Background: From South Bend, where some say is where basketball started and where it’s best, Brandon Taylor takes that with pride, as in college at Ohio State, he was determined to prove to everybody that Indiana kids know how to ball. He took his team to the Sweet 16 as a freshman, and he almost won it all his second year, as he almost won player of the year and a National Title. After the game, he jokingly told AAU buddy Ray Buchanan that he owes him one. Brandon is ready to make some noise in the NBA, but with all the great point guards, can he be the NEXT ONE?
Scouting Report:
Athleticism: He is what we call a FREAK; long wingspan, big hands, smooth strides, quickness, and the ability to fly when he jumps. He has it all.
Offense: Like most players that can get to the basket because of their speed and pure athleticism, he lacks a consistent jumpshot. “He’s not Rondo, but he sure isn’t Stephen Curry,” a scout told me the other day. Gym time + jumpers are definitely needed for this guy, but he can pass the ball well off the dribble and hit open shooters.
Defense: If this guy focus on this side of the ball, I am sorry in advance, because he will be a nightmare. He's fast, quick, likes to go after the ball, and you cant catch him on a fast break with a foul. He has the ablity to take the game over if he can focus on this part of his game.
IT Factor: There's a lot of competition at this Position already, but he might be able to sneak into the discussion for best young PG.
