PG Class Grade: B-

In a somewhat deep point guard class, there's not really any prospect that sticks out as a future star. However, there are plenty of prospects that look as if they can contribute to playoff contenders in this class. One of those prospects is Oklahoma State freshman Dorell Kelly. Kelly had a solid freshman season for the Cowboys, as he led them to the NCAA Tourney in his one and only collegiate season. Kelly is a supreme athlete with elite open-court speed. At 6'4", his combination of speed and size at the point guard position should allow him to immediately jump into the NBA and feel comfortable while driving to the basket. Kelly has a fairly reliable jumpshot in his game as well, as he shot 40% from behind the arc last season. There's no doubt that Kelly could become a starting point guard in the league, but the question is can he be a true point guard?

Moving over to the west coast in California, we have the Redshirt Junior Anthony Matthews from San Diego State. Matthews was the backup point guard for 2 years, and then he was redshirted as a Junior. After sitting out a whole season, Matthews came back 2 inches taller and with one of the best three-point shots in the Nation. After averaging 25 points in the first 10 games of the season, many were wondering where the heck this kid came from. Matthews' game relies heavily on his ability to play off the ball as a spot-up shooter, but that doesn't mean that he's one-dimensional, as he can still drive to the basket when needed. However, his bread and butter is most definitely his three-point shot. At his size (6'3"), some believe that he can be shifted completely over to the 2-guard, though he'd still be a bit undersized. Though he's not a true point guard, Matthews has shown that he can be the leader of a team.
