Wilson Thomas, Shooting Guard, Draft Class #1
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 215 lbs
20 Years Old
Baylor
Hometown: Rock Hill, South Carolina
Season Averages: 20.3 PPG, 46.5% FG, 42.1% 3PT
Background: Wilson's favorite NBA players are Ray Allen, Larry Bird, and Reggie Miller; any idea what he used to do in his back yard growing up? This South Carolina boy has put in the work to be called the best shooter in the draft, in my opinion. Some say its Bryce Logan from Creighton, but I disagree. Wilson has set every South Carolina high-school record for shooting, and while at Baylor, he was an outstanding shooter. He's quite the laid back type, as when I asked what he thinks about being a potential top 10 prospect, he answered, “I just like shooting the ball, and I love playing this game.”
Scouting Report:
Athleticism: He is the guy that walks in the gym, gets picked to play a game, no one expects him to do much, and then the game starts… He's very quick, has great stamina, and has little bit above average hops.
Offense: His high-school and college numbers speak for themselves. He's streaky at times, and is always, and I mean always, looking to shoot the ball. He will need a lot of shots to stay out of cold streaks.
Defense: He isn’t so bad that you notice him on defense as a bad defender, but you definitely shouldn't turn to him late in games when you need some lockdown defense.
IT Factor: Maybe - This all depends on the situation he gets drafted to, and if he puts in the work, he could be a top 1O SG…definitely has a shooters chance!
