All year, the talk of draft in terms of the Point Guard position was Ohio State sophomore Brandon Taylor. Taylor was the floor general for the Buckeyes last season as he lead them to the NCAA Championship game. Taylor's game revolves around his raw athleticism and his ability to get to the basket with ease. Defensively, he's very quick laterally and likes to gamble for a steal and an easy bucket on the fast break. He has the potential to be VERY good defensively due to his quickness and long arms. Offensively, his jumper needs work, but he has no problems with getting to the basket and finishing in traffic. His court vision is also above average, as he can find the open man while driving. In his Freshman season, Taylor won the Freshman of the Year award as he led the Buckeyes to the Sweet 16 in his first collegiate season. This season, he failed to secure the Player of the Year award, but he finished as a 1st Team All-American. Expect Taylor to be drafted in the Top 5 due to his potential alone.

The other Point Guard that has been given high-expectations is German point guard Sheldon Wright. Wright is a 21-year-old from Munich, and he's been playing professionally since the age of 16. Wright flew under the radar the past few seasons, and it took up until this past year for the NBA scouts to discover Wright overseas. The question, though, is clearly if Wright is for real? Sheldon possesses a credible jumpshot, and he's much more of a scorer than a distributor. His defense needs work, but his quick hands allow him to grab a solid amount of steals. Since he's been playing professionally for so long, one has to wonder if Wright's ceiling is really that much higher than where he's at now. Regardless, Wright should be a solid point guard in this league.
